Welcome to "Running Bears Den" on the famous French River. This three-season rustic cottage is a reminder of the simple things in life - the way camping & cottaging once was. A place where you leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city and arrive at your own private piece of serenity.
Where the air is fresh, the stars shine brighter, and the fish are always biting. This is a place where memories are made and moments leave a lasting impression. And yes - there are no neighbors in sight!
A quick boat ride takes you across to our Mason Island location. This huge multi-acre island is home to only four properties in total, with unlimited Crown Land surrounding you to explore and enjoy as if it were your own private wilderness escape. Our property sits on just under an acre of land with 156 feet of waterfrontage and stunning northwestern views.
Tie up the boat at the docks and step onto the large platform deck, complete with a fish cleaning station and a designated place for your fishing rods. The cabin itself is a simple two-bedroom retreat, finished with warm wood throughout both the interior and exterior. Currently used as a fishing retreat, the cabin features multiple bunk beds in every room and sleeps up to 12 people.
For cooler evenings, there is a small propane furnace to keep things cozy. The front screened room captures the best breeze on the property and includes a propane cooktop, propane fridge, and a large dining table where you can gather and enjoy the view. A water pump provides running water directly from the river to a large industrial sink for washing up and dishes.
For the true cottage experience, there is an outdoor loo for taking care of business, while bathing happens in the river or the makeshift outdoor shower. There is no hydro - but cell phones do work! We are selling "As Is" - what you see is what you get.
